With a background in dance, her approach is rooted in understanding how the body moves and using that movement to create range, nuance, and portraits that feel emotive and natural. She brings that same approach to photographers through in-person workshops in the U.S. and internationally, as well as Portrait Director Lab, a membership for working portrait photographers who want to break out of repetitive posing, create more variety, and direct with greater confidence.

At heart, she simply loves to create and brings that creativity into every session. Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Shannon moved around quite a bit growing up before eventually finding her way back home to St. Louis. She loves creating a special experience for her clients from the moment they walk through the door. Shannon believes everyone is worthy of having beautiful photographs of themselves—right now, exactly as they are, in this moment of their life.
